Dear Miss Emily

I have been dating my boyfriend for four years -- most of it was off and on. We just had a baby, but thing before that were not going good. He has a really  bad temper. A couple of months ago, we broke up due to domestic violence. He seems like he is changing but i don't know if I should go back with him. I love him, but if I do this I might lose the support of my family. It's my family or my boyfriend.

You must choose family, because this man is too unpredictable. He needs help, and violent people don't change that easily.  Domestic violence is a serious issue, and it is up to you to put a stop to any future events.Your baby is the most important part of your life, now, and you can't risk putting her (him) in harm's way. I'm sorry but, in my opinion, whatever it is that draws you to this man, it's unhealthy. That said, what you want with him is less important to me than my concern for the baby. Make the baby a priority and, by doing that, your life will improve, as well.
