Dear Miss Emily:

I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. I recently went a way to boarding school ,and I thought it was going to be great. I've always wanted to go to boarding school, but now I always feel upset and sad all the time, Also, my grades have not been what they normally are. My mother has given me the option to go back to my old school. I want to go but, yet, I want to stay at my new school. I just need some advice on what I should do.

-------------------------------Miss Emily's advice--------------------------

This is what I suggest: This is not unlike a first year at college for many students. It's tough to make the adjustment right out the gate. Emotions run high, and homesickness is common. I think you should finish out the year and, then, see how you feel at that time. Because you are fully aware you have the opportunity to return to your old school as back-up, it should take the burden off you having to make the decision now. Things may change for you, and as I always say, "Act in haste, repent in leisure." You need time to get this right, and time is what you have.
