Dear Miss Emily:
Me and my boyfriend dated for 2 years, and within those 2 years he got in some trouble and thinks he is going to jail. We talked bout his situation a month ago, and his court date is tomorrow. Well he broke up with me last week and said "I don't want to hold you back from having a life" and that he didn't love me anymore. 2 days after he broke up wit me, he told me he was gonna ask me to marry him on my birthday (next month), and I might be pregnant with his child. I love him with all my heart. Should I try to get him back, or should I give up and find someone else?
---------------------------------Miss Emily's advice--------------------------
I don't think you're going to find someone else that easily if you're carrying this man's child. It's not something a lot of males want to take on. Your boyfriend made a brief, noble effort to let you go, but it was, obviously, not serious if he plans to ask you to marry him on your birthday. I would definitely stick with him if you want to have the baby (and make sure you do), in order to attempt to form a family unit once he's out of jail (were that the outcome). Both of you knew that getting pregnant was a strong possibility by having unprotected sex, and if you are pregnant, you have to consider your child's needs above your own. If he is incarcerated, hopefully it's not for a long duration and it's possible for you and him to reunite (and do visit him) after he's served his time. This isn't easy, but I suspect you knew he was a bit of a "bad boy" when you got involved with him. If you love him with all your heart, stick with him until something tells you it's a dead-end and your child's welfare, as well as your own is in jepardy.
