Dear Miss Emily:
I am a 27 year old virgin, and I want to have sex with this guy that I am sort of seeing. We already agreed when we are going to hook up. He doesn't know I'm a virgin. I told him I am not. I do not want him to know. I have messed around before and did other stuff with guys. If I have sex with this guy will he know that I have a hymen and will he feel it break? I told him when we have sex to be really gentle and to go slow because i am a small person and i told him i haven't had sex in over a year, so i told him i was really tight. He said he will be really gentle and go slow. I'm just concerned if he will know i'm a virgin while having sex with me, or after we have sex.

If you were to bleed, or there was a tearing sensation, assuming you still have a hymen, he might wonder why. As well, you're going to probably appear nervous, unusually so, and that too might be the giveaway. But you can continue to lie to him, and make up some story if you were to bleed a bit -- like it was residual from a period. He might not fall for it, but you can try. If he's a gentleman, he might keep his suspicions to himself. But however you choose to play it, please make sure you use protection. Losing your virginity is one thing, but getting pregnant will make this problem seem absurd by comparison. As well, STDs are always a possibility with unprotected sex. I know you're 27, but I always feel obligated to say it, no matter what. So please forgive me if this is overkill and you're thinking to yourself, well, duh, Miss Emily, I know all that!
