I'm 13, and I have a 20 year old brother in India. No, he isn't related in any way, but we have been brother and sister for a long time. I know his family, he knows mine.
The past month i made a HORRIBLE mistake. It's a terribly long and complicated story, but I'll say this much -- I REALLY messed up. He's devastated and, in return, so am I. He said he wanted me to change -- and not just lie and hide again. Trust me, I won't but i truly feel hopeless. It's never been this bad! Do you think we will be okay? Is there ANYTHING i can do to help things get better?

----------------------------------------Miss Emily's advice------------------------------

You can't un-ring a bell. It happened. An apology, if truly in order, is all you can do. This may be something that's really none of his business, but if you somehow deceived him by lying, it's reasonable to be contrite. In the future, rather than lie, don't tell everything you know -- and avoid making up stories. Life is complicated on its own without having to add to the mix, and it's a sign of low self-esteem. Hopefully, this "brother" is only out for your best interests and sees this as a teaching moment for you. Reassure him that you've learned your lesson, and thank him for caring. Anything beyond this is simply "beating a dead horse." In other words, there's nothing more you can do. To try, is futile.
