Dear Miss Emily:
I am the maid of honor at a wedding and am throwing the bridal shower. Do I still buy the bride a shower gift?

No, it's not necessary. Hosting the shower is plenty. If you have someone take pictures at the shower, however, you can put them in an inexpensive, small album and present it to her as keepsake.
