Hello Miss Emily:
I need help with my current situation; In this economy, keeping a cell phone activated is pricey -- especially when both partners are jobless. My girlfriend's mother pays both her and my phone bill. She keeps rubbing it in my face saying things that really hurt my feelings. Such as; "I pay the bill, and I need to know who you call and text!" Its kinda getting annoying, and I feel like she's using this against me. SHE is not paying the bills, her MOTHER is, so why is she teasing me like this? What should I do/say?
------------------------------Miss Emily's advice----------------------
It's less about who pays the bill, but more about trust. She, obviously, does not trust you. But you want that phone, you can't pay for it on your own and, as a result, you are at her mercy -- and that's a pity. If you have nothing to hide on your phone, tell her to have at it! You aren't doing anything behind her back. But let her know that, while you're telling her to go ahead and do it, it is a matter of trust, and you'd better get to the bottom of why she doubts your loyalty. If you don't have trust, you don't have a relationship worth keeping.
