Dear Miss Emily:
Well, I met this guy and he is nice. He is shorter than I am. He is 20 years old. He has a room mate, his mother was murdered some time ago, and his dad is into drugs. I don't know if I will ever be able to fall in love with him. He wants us to be a couple, and he is already making plans for vacation. He says he just would rather spend time with me all day. and he calls me a lot . Please give me your opinion as to weather I should date him.

You're right to be concerned. He's got a lot of baggage from his past and you don't want him unpacking it at your feet. I hope he got some counseling, because having his mother murdered, and his father into drugs leaves him practically orphaned -- and in need of someone to fill the void and emptiness in his heart. It seems unfair to judge him when I don't know him but, to me, he's making plans for vacations, too early, and the constant calling is a red flag that he's needy. Tread lightly, for now, and offer only friendship until you get to know him well enough to see if he's capable of a stable, normal relationship. "Act in haste, repent in leisure."
