Dear Miss Emily:

My sister asked you a question and said you were a good person to ask my question. I'm really scared that I''m going to die. I get sick in the stomach.  It comes and goes, and my right leg hurts a bit. When I get a mark, or something, I get freaked out that I'm going to die or I have cancer. I don't know what the hell this is but I am so freaked out. Please help me. I am so scared.

---------------------------------Miss Emily's advice-------------------------

I think what you may be experiencing is anxiety, and a feeling of loss of control over your life. You fear something horrible is going to happen to you because, now, you think you are being controlled by forces that render you powerless.  The anxiety may well be producing the symptoms you are having. Check out anxiety, and panic attacks on the Internet, and see if you can relate to the information you find. But I do think your symptoms are worth checking out with a doctor, just to put your mind at ease -- because you want to rule out anything that could be physically wrong. If it is anxiety, the doctor can also give you medication to relieve it. You are welcome to give me a little more information concerning your age, and options you may have to get to the bottom of this problem. Maybe if we put our heads together, we can locate what is producing your anxiety if, indeed, that's what you are experiencing. All this said, I still think you want to be sure you're okay, and the doctor is the one who can give you that reassurance. These things often pass on their own, but if there's help out there, why not get it?
