Hello Emily,
So about three years ago i met this guy over myspace. we started talking and clicked instantly. We have so much in common, except he lives in Florida and I live in Michigan. I can honestly say I love him and he claims he loves me too. I know we're young (15) but the fact that we haven't given up has to count for something, right? We met for the first time in person, last Saturday. I've never in my entire life been so happy. But ever since he left I've been depressed. My parents aren't very supportive and say I'll probably never see him again and that hurts -- considering my dad moved when he was in high school just to be with my mom. And they're still together, which gives me hope that me and this boy might be able to work. I want nothing more in life, but I don't know what to do. I've been so depressed lately.
----------------------------------Miss Emily's advice-------------------------
I think your parents, despite their relationship starting at such an early age, want you to have many experiences in life -- including dating different guys. But you do have a point. You've maintained a solid relationship with this boy, and he's kept up his end of the deal, as well. Try not to let this get you down. Keep the relationship going, and see what happens. I am sure you are planning college, and maybe he would consider going to the same one. If he was able to come see you, there's a chance he (or you) can do it, again, soon. Most of the limitations we have in our lives are the ones we put there. Keep an open mind, and be happy in the moment. You have a good thing going in this relationship and, until something happens to change it, I think you should enjoy it. Avoid making it a huge deal with your parents. Time flies quickly, and at some point you'll be able to decide what's right for you.
