Dear Miss Emily:
I want to invite a guy to my sister's wedding this
spring, whom i have not seen in 2 1/2 years (due to job relocation) and
have not spoken with since this past August. We talked pretty
consistently the past 2 1/2 years, but he suddenly stopped calling and
texting and responding to my calls, which makes me think he might be
seeing someone. I want to invite him, but i don't want to step on any
toes if he is in fact dating someone. Should i call and ask or assume
his silence means he is dating someone?
---------------------------------------------------Miss Emily's advice----------------------------------------
The silence is troubling, period! Even if he were seeing someone, his rudeness in not returning your calls does not speak well of him. It probably is a new girlfriend (and people often behave this way), but you can't know for sure his motivation for the silence. I wouldn't ask him based on his neglect of the relationship. Calling him to ask, and for him to once, again, ignore you, would simply be another slap in the face you don't need. Ditch the idea, and ask someone who is a safe bet. He seems to have moved on, for now, and so should you.
