Dear Miss Emily:

Well, I have this friend who back-stabbed me. She doesn't know, I know. She thinks we are still friends. What should i do?

-------------------------------Miss Emily's advice----------------------------

Of course there are two ways to handle a situation like this: Confront her, and tell her what you know. But you risk being lied to. And the other way is to say nothing, but distance yourself while letting her twist-in-the-wind, so to speak. And when she asks why, play dumb. Her guilt, or embarrassment, will probably eat at her and she'll always wonder what you heard. Silence is golden, at times. Let her be the one to talk her way into a hole. Remember, in the future, be careful what you tell others. Trust is not a given. And if she stabbed you in the back by betraying you in a different way, you now know who you're dealing with -- and you can choose to sever the friendship if the betrayal is too great.
