Emily:
OK, so I met this guy over the Internet. We started talking and then over the phone. We text each other everyday, and every chance we get. He is the sweet guy ever. We haven't met or anything, but we decided to be together. We have a plan of meeting sometime in January. He tells me I'm his everything and all the gushy stuff. He's like no other guy I've been with but something, deep down, tells me to slow down.. please help me.
----------------------------------Miss Emily's advice--------------------------
Yes, that deep-down feeling is that "inner-voice" giving you a warning signal. It seldom fails us. He may be perfectly fine, but many Internet relationships do not turn out the way a person had hoped when she (or he) is with him (or her) up close and personal. Time is on your side, and if he pushes for more when you're not ready, then you need to back away. He might be too needy, and you don't want a guy with baggage, or any, presently unknown freakish attributes. Meet him in a public place (let someone know where you are going to meet him), and do not agree to go anywhere private with him until you are positive he is a genuinely nice guy with honorable intentions. It could work, I'm just saying be extra careful.
