Dear Miss Emily:
I am mid 20s and he is 40. We work at the same place and I really like
him. He says he likes me but doesn't want to be committed to one person.
We have been involved in a sexual way. He has other women who he is
involved with sexually. He says we are just having fun, but I wish it
could be more. At the moment, I am thinking of ending things in the
sexual way with him -- but whenever he holds me, I just cant seem to say no.
Am I hoping for too much from him? Do you think he will ever love or
like me the way I like him?
---------------------------------------------------Miss Emily's advice------------------------------------
I think you have to take him at his word. He thinks, as long as he's honest about the relationship he has with you, it's up to you to accept it, or reject it. And, when all is said and done, he's right! I think he likes you well enough to sleep with you, but love? No, I very much doubt it. He's the kind of guy who likes a lot of women, and sex is his paramount interest. Taking into consideration how you feel, I'd cut off having sex with him unless you can fully get on-board with his intentions toward you. Otherwise, a broken heart is sure to be the outcome -- and I can already sense a slight glitch in the "ticker" beginning to take hold.
