Dear Miss Emily:

I like this boy and he's my friend. I've known him for a while and he says he likes me too. He's planning on coming to visit me sometime, soon. I have him as a friend on a thing like Myspace, and there's this girl who's into him and leaves comments I don't like. Her profile is private, so I made a fake and got her to add me. I saw that he left her two comments a while back that I didn't like, and I feel like he doesn't like me as much as her -- but he said they're just friends. I'm not trying to seem obsessive, I just want to know the truth because I really like him. Am I doing things wrong? What should I be doing?

-------------------------------Miss Emily's advice--------------------------

I suspect the guy you like is just keeping all his options open. It's easy to flirt with gobs of people when there are many avenues to do it. The Internet opened up a whole new world of possibilities. He hasn't committed to you, and you have to put this in perspective. Keep in contact with him, be your sweet, lovable self, but do keep tabs on any comments he makes to her page that is way out of line -- considering he said he likes you, and wants to come visit. Actions speak louder than words, however, and because he doesn't live near you, but said he would come visit you soon, try to pin him down on when that might be -- but don't appear desperate, or needy. If what he says proves to be more words than action, he's not to be taken seriously. And if that's the case, look for love elsewhere. "So many boys, so little time!"
