Dear Miss Emily:
Hey, i just broke up with a boy. we have been together a year and a half
and, all of a sudden. he said i don't love u and haven't for a few months --
but he has been telling me he loves me to my face. But he said u r only a
friend. But lately he got a promotion at work and has net new friends who
are all girls! So i don't know if he's just doing it because of them. He's never been
confident around girls, as he was a virgin when we met. I don't know what to do, because i still love him.
-------------------------------Miss Emily's advice----------------------
I think you're on to something. His new promotion may be giving him the confidence to seek new pasture -- new experiences -- now he's no longer a timid virgin! I'd give him the time to figure this out, and don't appear needy or desperate. If you have the guts, tell him, "Go do what you have to do, but let me know if you change your mind about us. If you do, and I haven't moved on with someone else, maybe we can revisit this relationship. But, right now, I love you -- and don't want to stand in your way." I see no other way to handle it, without giving up your self-respect.
