Hi Emily, I have a problem with my boyfriend..He wants me to do everything he says without questioning him, and he always blames me for everything that goes wrong in our relationship. I want to break up with him, but I always fail to say it. I love him so much, but I don't like the way he treats me.

----------------------------Miss Emily's advice-----------------------

It appears you love him more than you love yourself and that's where the problem lies. No one should accept bad behavior from another person. The fact he wants you to do things "his way" and he blames you for everything that goes wrong in the relationship, tells me he's a selfish guy who can't face his own inadequacies. It takes two to make a relationship work, well, and if he's not willing to see that, and respect you, this relationship will only serve to prove you don't value yourself. If this is true, no wonder you chose a guy who is this demanding -- and perhaps, subconsciously, you've shown a need to be subservient to him. If I were you, I'd look in the mirror and say "You deserve better." But you have to believe it, or history will continue to repeat itself when it comes to you and relationships. My final advice? Simplify your life by getting rid of people who only serve to nourish self-doubt and take more than they give. I've had to do this in my own life, and it's liberating. Your boyfriend acts more like a controlling parent than a love interest.
