Hello Miss Emily:
I have a new concern. I have been dating a sound engineer, he travels a lot but the problem i have is that he doesn't communicate all the time. He will just go without telling me anything. I have expressed to him about how i feel about him not communicating to me. And i just said this to him this Sunday. Now, today, is Wednesday and i have not heard from him since Monday when he texted me to say he was going to call and i am still waiting for the phone call. I have texted him and called him since then, and nothing have happen. What should I do with this? He is a great man, very considerate, loving and mushy, but it's the communication thing. Help!!!!!!

He just might be the kind of guy who thinks verbal communication is overrated. I, like you, love to talk, and love to listen. But some people aren't wired that way. He's probably pretty devoted to his work. Sound engineering takes a tremendous amount of control, and concentration. It requires thinking, and little talking, and maybe that's why he's suited to it. You give him great merits for other things -- considerate, loving and mushy, so you don't want to be too hasty in finding fault. All you can do is kindly tell him, I love to hear what's going on with you, and with your work, so please let me in on it if you can. Wait and see what happens, but it may boil down to accepting this flaw (and it's a big one if communication is what you crave), or letting this great, but uncommunicative guy go.
